Bolton

The Washington Note Archives:

"there's another aspect of this incident that you didn't mention but should be important to those swing Republicans (like Hagel) who repeat the party line that 'we need someone tough to work on the UN.'

The UK has been this Administration's only important, close, and consistently supportive ally on international issues. If Bolton's personality is so impossible that even that one crucial ally can't abide him, how can he possibly function in a position where his only ostensible role is to deal with other countries? (I know, I used 'ostensibly' for an obvious reason... but presumably people like Hagel are interested in ostensible reasons for questioning Bolton's appropriateness for the position.)"

Good point and with emerging stories of Bolton spying on fellow US diplomats and making sure the White House got their war no wonder the White House wants to rush his nomination through and won't give even GOP Senators access to the info they want.
